Western Fashion is Hyper-individualistic. Àdìre, Class Signalling and Fashion as Social Currency.
This article interrogates western fashion at the site of class signalling through the lens of Traditional Yoruba indigo-dyed cloth (Àdìre). Observing how the process of tie-dye crafting promotes a collectivist, community oriented approach to fashion and art, that roots value beyond wealth status but instils cultural integrity through a unifying intergenerational process.
